Prószynski & S-ka has published new book by Professor
Grzegorz W. Kolodko, „Dokad
zmierza swiat. Ekonomia polityczna przyszlosci” („Whither the World.
Political Economy of the Future”) (in Polish) . This is
already the third volume of his bestselling series on the world issues.
After „Truth,
Errors, and Lies: Politics and Economics in in a Volatile World”,
which thus far has been released in ten languages, and “Swiat
na wyciagniecie mysli” („The World at the Extent of Thought”) (in
Polish), now the time to discuss the future challenges
has come.

Only two months has passed since international
scientific
conference organized by the Director of TIGER on the occasion of the
20th anniversary of Kozminski University, and already a special book
called “Management and Economic Policy for Development" (in Polish
„Zarzadanie i polityka gospodarcza dla rozwoju”, edited by prof.
Grzegorz W. Kolodko, has been published (Poltext, Warszawa 2014, p.
488). It opens with a chapter entitled „Behind the Rise and Decline of
Grassroots Dynamism” written by the Nobel laureate, Professor Edmund S.
Phelps of Columbia University.

"Let’s pray." This is by no means a dramatic call
for earnest devotion in times of crisis, in times of confusion, as
stipulated by Professor Kolodko in his book "Whither the World: The
Political Economy of the Future" (www.volatileworld.net),
but a call
for greater openness to multiculturalism. "Let’s pray" is the title of
exhibition of photography, which calls for a greater degree of mutual
understanding and tolerance in our constantly changing world. After
visiting more than 160 countries, Professor Kolodko demonstrates 55
photographs, showing where, how and to whom or what various people pray
in different cultures, places, situations. Opening night, with the
author’s participation, takes place on Sunday, November 24th, at 5:00
p.m. in the commons of Municipal Cultural Centre in Lesznowola, Stara

Professor
Grzegorz W. Kolodko delivers the speech on "The New
Pragmatism and the World’s Future" at the 2013 Caixin Summit "China and
the World" in Beijing. The summit is the Caixin Media’s premier
conference series and has featured spin-off conferences in the United

of Economics students at the Peking University. The TIGER Director has
visited this prestigious university several times in the past. This

Congress of Polish Economists,
called "Economics for the Future. Discover the Nature and Causes of
Economic Phenomena", is held in Warsaw. Such topic firmly corresponds
to the research interests of Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko. Therefore,
he’s gladly accepted the invitation to deliver a paper at the inaugural
plenary session of the Congress (Thursday, 28.XI, at 11:50 a.m.). It is
worth noting that Polish economists congresses are organized since
1887, and professor Kolodko participated in such meeting for the first
time exactly one hundred years later, that is already a quarter of a
century ago...

Kolodko, takes a part in panel debate on “Challenges for Poland in the
European Union: need for economic, social and structural reforms and
competitiveness” at the international symposium "Poland and the Crisis
in Europe" organized by the Polish Historical and Literary Society, in
cooperation with INALCO, the National Institute of Oriental Languages
and Civilizations. The event takes place in Paris, in the venue of

Professor at TIGER - Dr. Małgorzata Runiewicz-Wardyn – undertakes a
postdoctoral research and teaching fellowship in the School of Slavonic
and East European Studies, University College London (UCL) in London at
the invitation of prof. Slavo Radosevic, Deputy Director of SSEES and a
professor of Industry and Innovation Studies. The fellowship will be
covered by ERASMUS Teaching Mobility Program. Her research and teaching
subject refers to the role of knowledge flows and regional innovation
systems (RIS) in technological change and economic growth of EU regions.

The Kozminski University Program in Finance advanced to global top 20
in the "Financial Times" Global Masters in Finance ranking. This degree
certified by the ACCA has a guarantee of higher income. 19th place in
the world, that is the position of Kozminski University Master Program
in Finance according to the new "Financial Times" ranking. Last year
the program ranked 21st in the world. The ranking, published on June
24th, 2013 includes the best European universities such as HEC Paris,
which took first place. In the process of evaluation "FT" analyzes the
level of quality of educational services, academic achievements of
faculty, student mobility, internship opportunities, the
internationalization of a university, even gender diversity of faculty
and students. One of the most important criterions is alumni careers

As
in the recent years, so this time, at the invitation of the organizers
as a special guest, Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko participates in the 23rd
Economic Forum in Krynica Zdroj
(September 3-5). The event takes place under the title “Towards a New
Deal”. Immediately after the Forum the TIGER Director attends the
Running Festival during which he presents a public lecture called “The
Running World” and signs his books on the world issues.

The exhibition of
Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko photographs under the intriguing title
„Let’s Pray”, after being presented to the Economic Forum in Krynica,
goes to the Art Gallery “Siedlisko”. The opening, with author
attendance, occurs on Saturday, September 7th, at 4:00 p.m., at the
Gallery, 19, Pilsudski Street. The previous Professor’s exhibition can

July 1-15, 2013
Professor Grzegow W. Kolodko
pays a working visit to North
Korea. This is the first journey of TIGER Director to this
country. While there, he meets the economists from the Institute of Economics
of Academy of Social Sciences, the
policymakers and experts from the Disarmament and Peace Institute of
the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the representatives of the International
Association for the Promotion of Economy and Technical Exchange and
with the researchers from the Pyongyang University of Science and
Technology. In Pyongyang, at the onset of his visit, the former Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Poland delivers a special
address at the opening ceremony of local Poland’s presidency in the
group of ambassadors of the European Union countries. Professor Kolodko
will visit also Panmunjon and special economic zone Kaesong.

The exhibition of Professor Kolodko's photographs,
under the intriguing title "Let's Pray", will be shown until the end of

and "The Neighbors”, which have driven a lot of interests and

Springer
will published a book by Dr. Małgorzata Runiewicz-Wardyn on „Knowledge
Flows, Technological Change and Regional Growth in European Union " in
its series of "Contributions to Economics". The book provides
conceptual and empirical insights into the complex relationship between
knowledge flows and regional growth in the EU. The author critically
scrutinizes and enhances the Regional Innovation System approach,
discussing innovation as a technological, institutional and
evolutionary process. The book closes with an investigation of the role
of technological change and knowledge spillovers in the dynamic growth

VICTORIA! Orlen Warsaw Marathon
mastered! Professor G. W. Kolodko has completed his 39th
marathon. This time in five hours he ran a beautiful route of 26,2
miles from Warsaw’s National Stadium to Wilanow and Konstancin, then
Ursynow and Mokotow, and via Downtown back to the National Stadium.
After all this was the National Running Day. Great party! The TIGER
Director was crossing the finish line with the wonderful company of his
two daughters, Julia and Gabi, and the latter little dog, Vegas, which
earlier have bravely run the distance of 10 kilometers. This marathon
is also Professor Kolodko’s respond for the barbaric attack on the
Boston Marathon earlier in the week…
