Prof. Daniel Daianu
Daniel Daianu is professor of economics at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and visiting professor at the Anderson School of Management, at UCLA. He lectured at other leading universities, in Europe and the USA. He is a former Finance Minister of Romania (1998) and Chief Economist of the National Bank of Romania (1992-1997). In 2001 he was Chairman of the OSCE Economic Forum. He is Chairman of the Romanian Economic Society and Vice-President of the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies. He held research fellowships at, inter alia, the International Monetary Fund, The Wilson Center (Washington DC), the NATO Defense College (Rome), the Russian Research Center (Harvard University). Among his publications are "Transformation as A Real Process", Aldershot (UK), Ashgate, 1998; with Thanos Veremis (eds.), "Balkan Reconstruction", London, Frank Cass, 2001; "Where are post-communist countries heading to?"(in Romanian), Iasi, Polirom, 2001.
