We were overcome with unspeakable grief upon learning of the sudden death of Professor Hu Biliang, member of the TIGER Scientific Advisory Board at Kozminski University. This outstanding scientist and academic teacher, an economist creatively engaged in studies on the issues of socio-economic development, left us so prematurely. We owe Him the establishment and effective management of the Belt and Road School at the renowned Beijing Normal University. His publications are known to many economists and policymakers not only in His native China, but also throughout the world. Thanks to His efforts, the Belt and Road School has educated many hundreds of students from all continents in the international MBA program. Professor Hu, always very busy, has created a network of eminent scholars from many countries around the world engaged in research on inclusive globalization, sustainable development, and peaceful international cooperation. He was also our great friend and spokesman for China's pragmatic cooperation with the West, including the European Union and Poland in particular. Although His scientific publications and students remain with us, we will miss Him very much.

The book also introduces readers to the greatest challenge of our time, climate change, and explores the long-term effects of the current arms race and rearmament spiral on global warming. This interdisciplinary book, which also addresses the challenges of inflation, mass migrations and clashes between democracy and authoritarianism, will appeal to anyone interested in the contemporary geopolitical shifts triggered by the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but also in the dynamics and directions of the evolution of the new cold war.”

„Rzeczpospolita” daily publishes (in Polish) an article by Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko entitled “The war is ongoing and will continue.” The director of TIGER writes: “The fate of this absurd war will not be decided either on the frozen front of Bakhmut, or on other front lines drawn by strategists and politicians in Kyiv, Moscow, or some other capitals (...). Nor will the fate of this war be decided in the armchairs in the conference room of the NATO air base in Ramstein, Germany.” And he concludes: “The sooner there is a ceasefire in Ukraine and peace negotiations begin, the better. Massive international efforts should follow this path. It is a time of diplomacy and statesmen, not an arms race and politicians who believe in the illusory possibility of defeating the enemy by force. It is also the time of intellectuals and scientists who should talk together as much as possible, above front and political divisions, so that they can influence the views and actions of political decision-makers in their countries, also, or rather primarily, in Russia. Unfortunately, sometimes the generals and politicians influence the views prevailing in academies and on campuses. Isn’t it high time for the ferment and dialogue in the university circles to have a significant impact on the course of political affairs?”

Rarely about something different." In the context of the war in Ukraine and help, which is provided by so many countries. people, companies ... These are strong words. But when we look at the statistics given by the last "The Economist" that after the outbreak of the war, oil exports from Russia ... increased and reaches Europe, if not directly, as ready fuel from countries that did not impose sanctions on Russia. And "withdrawing" from the Russian market means in most cases the time parking of business in "partner" companies, these words gain importance. We will talk about what (un) business responsibility in these, very difficult times looks like, on June 23, between 10-13 at the headquarters of the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw, ul. Nakładem Wydawnictwa Naukowego PWN ukazała się książka pt. „Polityka społeczno-gospodarcza w UE.
