The book "Economics and Politics. On the Theory of Grzegorz W. Kolodko" (in Polish) has been published by Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN". This is a unique collective work, prepared under the direction of Professor Elzbieta Maczynska, President of the Polish Economic Society, by  a group of 28 outstanding Polish economists. The book appears in connection with the jubilee of Professor Kolodko.

2019
On the occasion of the jubilee of Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko, the quarterly "Acta Oeconomica", a prestigious scientific journal with impact factor, has published a special edition (Vol. 69, Special Issue 1). In previous years, only three special editions were published devoted to the scientific achievements of such eminent economists as John von Neumann, Nicholas Kaldor and Janos Kornai. In the group of 18 distinguished authors of published articles is the Nobel Prize laureate in economic sciences, Edmund S. Phelps.

Palgrave Macmillan has published the paperback edition of the new book by Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko entitled „Whither the World: The Political Economy of the Future”. The work, released in two parts, Vol. I and Vol. II, is published also in Chinese, Russian, Polish and Romanian. Let’s mention that the pictures at the both volumes covers are also made by Professor Kolodko.





December 21, 2019, 2:00 p.m.
At the Beijing Normal University a group of distinguished scholars and journalists participated in the meeting with Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko, the author of his already fifth book in Chinese. The work, called “Zhong guo neng fou zheng jiu shi jie?” („Will China Save the World?”), has been issued by the Encyclopedia of China Publishing House.


December 18, 2019, 10:00 a.m.
Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko is hosted by the Beijing Normal University at its beautiful new campus in Zhuhai, between Hong Kong and Macau. The TIGER’s director speaks at the Jingshi Belt and Road Forum 2019.


December 16, 2019, 9:00 a.m.

During the stay of Professor G. W. Kolodko in Beijing the Renmin University organizes International Symposium on “China and the World in the New Era”. Professor Kolodko speaks on "China's Economic Development and Its Implications for Inclusive Globalization".


December 12-22, 2019
Director of TIGER again in the Middle Kingdom. This time with a series of lectures entitled "The Leadership at the Era of Rebalancing Globalization" presented at the Normal University in Beijing (12-15.XII) and on its new campus in Zhuhai (16-20.XII). In the final phase of the stay Professor Kolodko, who is the Distinguished Professor of Emerging Markets Institute of the host university, presents a new book, this time about China, in Chinese.




December 12, 2019

Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) awarded its prestigious annual award for the “Best Book in Economics” to Prof. Marcin Piatkowski’s book on „Europe’s Growth Champion. Insights from the Economic Rise of Poland”, Oxford University Press. This is the first time that two economists from Kozminski University received the same award: in 2013, Prof. Grzegorz W. Kolodko received PAS’s award for his book on  "Dokąd zmierza świat. Ekonomia polityczna przyszłości".

The Krakow Groteska Theater hosts Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko as part of a series of meetings entitled "Master's Code". On the stage of the theater, the TIGER’s director talks with Professor Katarzyna Kolasa from the Kozminski University.

Prof. Marcin Piątkowski, Associate Professor at TIGER and Senior Economist at the World Bank, received his habilitation diploma and delivered the opening lecture at the ceremony organized by Kozminski University.

The TIGER scholars – professors of the Kozminski University, Marcin Piatkowski and Jacek Tomkiewicz as well as Dr. Grzegorz Malinowski participate in the event. Professor Grzegorz W. At the invitation of Professor James K. Galbraith, director of TIGER participates in the conference on "New Deals in Europe and America" held at the University of Texas in Austin. Professor Kołodko takes part in the panel "The New Deal in the United States" and in the concluding session "Next Steps Toward a New New Deal". The conference is hosted by the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.

Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko again participates in the Economic Forum in Kiev. This time the event takes place under the slogan "Creating the Future in a Changing World".




November 5-6, 2019
Professor Wang Linggui,  the Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Secretary General of National Institute for Global Strategy (NIGS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) invited Professor G.W. Kolodko to speak at the high-level international symposium “China's 70-Year Development and the Construction of  the  Community With a Shared Future for Mankind”. At the event, which is held in Shanghai during the Second China International Import Expo, the Director of TIGER presents a paper on “China and the Rebalancing of Globalization”.

"Irrevesibility of Globalization in the Digital Age" is the title of the keynote speech delivered by Professor G. W. Kolodko during the China International Digital Economy Expo (CIDEE) 2019, which takes place in Shijiazhuang (Heibei Province). His new book, "China and the Future of Globalization: The Political Economy of China’s Rise", is going to be released soon.


October 10-12, 2019
Prof. Jacek Tomkiewicz takes part in the conference organized by the Euroasia Business and Economic Society in Lisbon, Portugal. Prof. Tomkiewicz presents his research paper  (co-authored by prof. Marta Postuła) on current challenges for tax policy.

At the invitation of Professor Edmund Phelps, the Nobel laureate in the economic sciences, Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko takes part in a conference on the subject of "Progressivism, Socialism, Nationalism". The organizer of the conference, in which participates also the Nobel Prize winner, Professor Joseph Stiglitz, is the Center on Capitalism and Society of Columbia University in New York.

Prof. Małgorzata Runiewicz-Wardyn is participating in the special workshop dedicated to “Challenges For Responsible Innovation”, organized by the DG Research and Innovation of European Commission in Brussels. Prof. Runiewicz-Wardyn will share her research experience with participants from her latest project on “Social capital, innovativeness and growth in regions. The comparative analysis of the US and EU biotechnology clusters” (grant OPUS11).

September 26-27, 2019
Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko takes part in the 9th European Forum for New Ideas, EFNI, taking place in Sopot. Director of TIGER participates in panels entitled "Europe relations with Asia, the Americas and Africa" (Thursday, 26.09 at 16:00) and "Poland in the puzzle of great powers. The rivalry of China and the United States from a national and European Community perspective” (Thursday, September 26, 17:30). On the second day of the forum (Friday, September 27, 11:00) the author’s meeting with the readers, with the book "Strategy for Poland. A quarter of a century later ", occurs.

Prof. Małgorzata Runiewicz-Wardyn is a reviewer and a member of the two doctoral dissertation examination committees of Ms. Agnė Vaiciukevičiūtė, with the thesis entitled Assessing economics impact and efficiency of higher education institutions (supervisor: prof. dr Jelena Stankeviciene), and Ms. Irena Danilevičienė, with the thesis on Interaction between remuneration, employment and productivity (supervisor: prof. Boguslav Grużevskis), at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU).

The Kuznica Association has endowed Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko the honorary award Kowadlo Kuznicy in recognition of scientific achievements in the field of economics, role in reforming the Polish economy and world authority in the field of development economics and economic policy. The award ceremony, during which laudation was given by Professor Bronislaw Lagowski, took place in Krakow, in the new headquarters of the association at Al. Slowackiego 44.

Conference “Strategy for Poland 25 years later” on the conditions and development perspectives of the Polish economy. The pretext for the organization of the conference is the 25th anniversary of the preparation of the Strategy for Poland,  program which was a key set of reforms implemented in 1994-97.

The Publishing House PWN has published a book edited by Grzegorz W. Kolodko and Jacek Tomkiewicz entitled 'Strategy for Poland. A quarter of a century later” (in Polish). This unique work, consisting of 472 pages, was prepared by an eighteen-strong team of authors - theoreticians of economics, finance and management as well as politicians and business practitioners.

Mikhail Eskindarov, director of TIGER gives a 12-hour lecture series entitled "Globalization, Crisis and What Next: Neoliberalism, New Nationalism or New Pragmatism?" Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko meets in Jerusalem the Nobel Laureate in economic sciences, Professor Robert Aumann, the Director of Center for the Study of Rationality in the Hebrew University. Professor Aumann, at the invitation of TIGER's Director, visited Poland in 2009 and presented at Kozminski University the Distinguished Lecture on "Game Engineering".

Nakładem Wydawnictwa Naukowego PWN ukazała się książka pt. „Polityka społeczno-gospodarcza w UE. Finanse na poziomie krajowym, europejskim i globalnym.” Publikacja wpisuje się w toczącą się w środowisku praktyków i teoretyków dyskusję na temat słabości działania instytucji ponadnarodowych, jak i krajowych, które uwidocznił kryzys finansowy. Czy wyciągnęliśmy właściwe wnioski i jesteśmy lepiej przygotowani na nadejście ewentualnych kolejnych kryzysów? Czy warto realizować inicjatywy o horyzoncie ponadnarodowym czy też lepiej skupić się na działaniach podejmowanych w ramach nurtu nowego nacjonalizmu? First Day (28th January - World Day) - a series of debates with the participation of eminent economists from a dozen countries, co-authors of a special edition of the ACTA OECONOMICA (Vol. 69, Special Issue 1) "Grzegorz W. Kolodko turns 70"). Discussion will focus on the conditions and strategies for economic development, the future fate of globalization, fiscal and monetary policy and methodology of modern economics. Special attention will be paid to the Chinese development model. Keynote speech will be delivered by prof. Justin Yifu Lin, former Vice President for Development and Chief Economist of the World Bank.

Second Day (29th January - Polish Day) - leading Polish economists, co-authors of the book published by PWN Publishing House "Economics and politics. Around the economic theory of Grzegorz W. As every year at this time in the Alpine resort of Davos, the World Economic Forum takes place. There is no shortage of tensions in the global economy, so the more interesting are going to be the debates in which the TIGER Director, Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko, participates.
