A new book by prof. Grzegorz W. Kolodko entitled "O Naprawie Naszych Finansów" (Eng.
"On the Reform of Our Public Finance System") has been published by TNOiK.
Quotation from the last page of the cover: When for the first time I spoke about the core of the policy,
which aimed at "turning the digits back to front" - meaning jumping from the 0.5 % economic growth rate
in the first quarter of 2002 to 5.0%, many treated this as grotesque. Later, they admited that I was right.
They especially underlined the accuracy of the predictions, that indeed the GDP grew at the rate of 3,5%
(in fact it grew 3,8%). The most important thing is not to predict the right numbers, however, but to
implement a proper policy. Consequnetly my policy happenned to be right. The "digits turned back to front"
at the beginning of 2004. In the first half of the year GDP grew over 5% and there is a chance for a similar
increase for the entire year.
